Learning Outcome 2

One of the reasons that I chose my third essay as my Significant Writing Project is because this was the essay where I used the most pieces of evidence and quotes from other pieces of writing. In this essay, I had three different articles that I could use to pull sources of evidence from, and this turned out to be very helpful when I needed support to back up my arguments. I use sources and quotes from other articles in my writing to provide evidence and support to each of my body paragraphs. Providing evidence in my writing made my paper more clear and precise overall, and also made my thesis a stronger argument. I have learned how beneficial to your writing it is if you know how to integrate your own ideas with those of others. In my Significant Writing Project, I made sure that I first introduced the quote, and then provided an in depth analysis following it. An example of me doing this in my essay would be: “In the article “We Are a Camera”, Paumgarten talks about a surfer who is a frequent user of the GoPro, and likes to take it out surfing with him. Paumgarten quotes him saying, “He pointed a GoPro at himself and howled, ‘This is really happening!’ The camera affirmed it”(333). People use technology to affirm that an experience actually happened, instead of actually living in the moment, and cherishing the memory of the experience.” This portion of my essay is a good example of how I introduced and analyzed not only this one quote, but also the rest of the sources I used as evidence in my essay.
